For well over 30 years, it has been the most active business site for the chemical and petroleum industries, energy producers and logistics companies. They all benefit from the strategic location at the Elbe and the Kiel Canal, as well as the proximity to the growing Hamburg metropolis. More than 12.500 jobs in the region are impacted by the companies of the ChemCoast Park, 4.000 of them directly in Brunsbuettel. The Vulkanox brand’s antioxidants are predominantly used for all kinds of tyre, as well as for technical rubber items, such as assembly lines, drive belts and rollers. The LANXESS antioxidants protect rubber items from harmful outside impact, such as oxygen, ozone or heat and ensure a long life.
The LANXESS Advanced Industrial Intermediate division's second operation produces a liquid preliminary product for plant protection herbicides. Additionally, the product is an important component of the Macrolex Blau 3R dye, which, among other things, ensures that blue PET bottles retain their colour.

From there, the product is loaded into rail tank cars and road tankers.

KMW Wind to Gas Energy
The shareholders of Wind to Gas Energy were among the first pioneers in the use of wind energy in Schleswig-Holstein.

At the end of the 1980s, the first wind turbines were erected for self-supply.

In the meantime, KMW Wind to Gas Energy GmbH & Co. KG operates numerous wind farms in the windy region of Dithmarschen and thus makes a significant contribution to the energy turnaround.

With the company's involvement in the ChemCoast Park, the next step for a successful and sustainable energy transition has been taken: the conversion and storage of renewable energies into "green" hydrogen. For this purpose, a 2.4 MW hydrogen electrolysis plant fed by wind power was built at the energy and industrial site of Brunsbüttel in Schleswig-Holstein, with a natural gas grid feed-in and hydrogen filling station. A 2 MW battery storage system enables the short-term storage of electricity.
